I’ve been very passionately involved with making music from a very early age. Although I started out playing piano and achieved a grade eight level, the moment I tried the drums for the first time, I knew I had found my instrument; I never looked back.
My passion for music has lead me to have some wonderful experiences. I’ve played in bands since I was fourteen and was playing the Toronto circuits regularly by the age of seventeen. I had the opportunity to perform with my first band Derivation at well known music festivals where we opened for artists like The Gandharvas, Holly McNarland, and The Pursuit of Happiness.
I continued on my path by studying music in University where I majored in performance and composition. This eventually lead me to studying in The Netherlands where I played with some exceptional musicians, ensembles, and orchestras. My love for the drums and rock/pop music was still very strong however and so I returned to Canada in order to be involved with more diverse creative projects. Here I am able to explore and pursue both the classical and mainstream styles, while finding ways to bridge the gap between the two.
In regards to my personal projects… I’m currently part of a fantastic group called The Thin Edge New Music Collective. The group focuses its energies on performing twentieth century music and commissioning young Canadian composers. We are currently finishing up our sixth season which was a big success and we are very excited to be planning the seventh. I’m also part of a pop/alternative band called Gelax. At this time we are concentrating on building material however you will find a video on the media page. I am also the drummer in a high energy melodic punk band BROOMFILLER. BROOMFILLER is currently on pause busy writing our next album. We did an east coast tour last summer, future show dates will be posted on the BROOMFILLER website. Links to all of the groups may be found on the right panel of this site, be sure to check them out!
While on my musical journeys I’ve had the opportunity to open up for Tom Cochrane in 2011, played Bluesfest 2012 in Ottawa. I also opened for Skydiggers at the Queen Street Festival 2012, Great Big Sea December 2012, Hey Rosetta in 2013, played with Dexta Daps and opened for Akon with Kristen Karma in 2017. You can also find me on the self-titled album of the progressive rock band Duck Duck Goose. Duck Duck Goose disbanded in October of 2014 however you can find links to some tracks on the media page as well as SoundCloud.
I am in a very happy musical place. I love to challenge myself musically, playing in diverse projects that continue to develop me as a percussionist, drummer and writer, and find it very rewarding to pass along the information as a teacher. It really doesn’t get any better than this!
